How to choose your wedding photographer

Experience in Weddings Matters!
Weddings are beautifully unpredictable, and an experienced wedding photographer knows exactly how to handle every moment, from the quiet anticipation before the ceremony to the wild dance floor celebrations. They’ll not only capture stunning images but also guide you on how to structure your timeline for a smooth, stress-free day. A seasoned photographer helps you plan time slots for key moments, ensuring you get incredible photos without feeling rushed.
With over 10 years of experience in the wedding industry, I’ve had the honor of capturing countless love stories. This experience allows me to anticipate special moments before they even happen—the way a father squeezes his daughter’s hand before walking her down the aisle, the tearful smile between newlyweds during their first dance, or that spontaneous burst of laughter during speeches. I don’t just take photos; I tell the story of your day as it naturally unfolds, making sure you get the most beautiful, heartfelt memories to look back on for a lifetime.

otography Style & Approach
Do you love candid moments, timeless portraits, or artistic editorial shots? Your photographer’s style should align with your vision! Browse their galleries—if you adore spontaneous, emotional captures, make sure their portfolio includes plenty of candid shots. If you’re drawn to gorgeous detail shots, check for those too. More importantly, have a chat with them! You’ll be spending a lot of time together on your wedding day, so it’s essential to find someone you genuinely enjoy being around and trust to document your day the way you envision it.
If you flip through my photos on Instagram or explore my galleries on my website, you’ll quickly see a distinct style running through each wedding collection. While every love story is unique, I always strive to capture the emotions that make your day unforgettable—whether it’s the excitement as you walk down the aisle, the intimate romance of your first dance, or even those joyful, tear-filled moments that tug at the heart. You’ll also notice how much I love capturing the little details—the delicate floral arrangements, the handwritten vows, the way your hands intertwine. These small elements are just as much a part of your story, and I make sure they’re beautifully preserved alongside the big, emotional moments.
Professional Equipment & Backup Plans
Make sure your photographer is a pro and has the right equipment to capture your wedding better than a well-meaning friend with a nice camera. A professional photographer comes prepared with backup cameras, multiple lenses, and the expertise to handle any lighting situation. It’s always a good idea to ask if they primarily shoot with natural light or use flash—especially for dimly lit venues or evening receptions. You want to be sure they have the gear to create stunning images no matter the setting.
Personally, I always shoot with two of my favorite Canon cameras, which have never let me down, but I also carry two additional backup cameras—just in case. I believe in being prepared for any scenario, so I bring several lenses to adapt to every moment. Whether I need a super zoom for those emotional vows from afar or a wide lens to capture a breathtaking venue in even the smallest room imaginable, I’m always ready to deliver the best possible results.

Communication & Coordination
A great photographer isn’t just skilled with a camera—they’re also well-organized, responsive, and experienced in keeping your wedding day running smoothly. Beyond taking beautiful photos, they should help guide you through your timeline to ensure you have enough time for the shots you’ve always dreamed of, without feeling rushed.
While wedding coordinators often provide a general schedule, it’s essential to discuss the timeline with your photographer as well. We know exactly how much time is needed for different types of photos, from family portraits to romantic couple shots. And trust me—15 minutes is simply not enough to capture all those stunning, once-in-a-lifetime moments! I work closely with my couples to plan a schedule that allows for relaxed, natural photos while keeping the day flowing seamlessly, so you can enjoy every moment without stress.

Client Reviews & Referrals
One of the best ways to know if a photographer is the right fit for your wedding is by reading what past couples have to say! Client reviews give you an honest insight into their experience—how the photographer worked on the day, how they made them feel, and, of course, how much they loved their photos.
You can read my reviews on Hitched, Facebook and see for yourself how other couples have experienced their wedding photography journey with me. Their words will give you a sense of my approach, my style, and how I help create a relaxed, enjoyable experience while capturing beautiful memories that last a lifetime.

Choosing the right wedding photographer is a big decision, but hopefully, you now have a clearer idea of what to ask and look for when making your choice. Your wedding photos will be cherished for a lifetime, so finding the perfect match is key!
